Google has released two new Android apps for the deaf and hearing impaired. It’s estimated by the World Health organization that 900 million people will have hearing loss by 2055, what a better way to take steps to improve communication options available for the hearing impaired than to create apps that make connecting easier.

Live Transcribe automatically translates spoken words into text on your phone screen. The concept here is to make it easier for people who are hard of hearing to communicate easier and independently. Available in over 70 languages and dialects, Live Transcribe has two-way conversation capabilities, you can speak into the app and the words are shown on the screen or if you don’t want to speak back you can respond on a type back keyboard.
- Sound Amplifier is exactly what the name says, an amplifier. For those who need an audio boost every now and then in loud areas such as a crowded lobby, or restaurants to help hear the spoken word. The app lets you filter and amplify sounds in your environment.
