We have posted previously about ways to stay in touch with seniors who live away from us yet there are still many senior care facilities and senior living homes that are up to speed on technology.
Why must senior living facilities include technology access?
Up to date technology helps the senior living facilities, long term care facilities, assisted living homes, elderly care homes, nursing homes whatever you want to call them provide better services to the residents. These services include:
- real time access to family and friends
- ability to stay up to date on what is going on in the world outside
- easy communication for almost anything
- provides a means to keep the mind sharp by learning new things
- software to manage many aspects of living
Senior living technology also provides an opportunity to give employees better tools to do their jobs. Imagine what they could do with new software and tools to manage residents?
Senior living facilities with technology helps families too. When a senior can’t make it to a special function there is always video to stream so they feel a part of it. When you can’t get to your senior often enough you can video chat, email or instant message. Make their day by sending electronic pictures of the kids and grandkids. Any contact is better then none! So access to technology can relieve pressure from caregivers and their families, too.
Technology access is one thing to consider when looking for a senior living arrangement regardless of what type you are looking for. It is far more important than the look of the place. You may be looking at beautiful rooms and surroundings but if your senior isn’t able to easily access the outside world including family, things may not look so beautiful to them after a time.
Technology means so much everyone and should be accessible to everyone regardless of age or where we live.
