Healthy Smoothies! There is nothing more refreshing than a homemade smoothie or juice as a healthful snack. Juicing in particular helps to extract all the nutrients from fresh produce and is a wonderful way of upping your fruits and veggies consumption.
Drink up!
Refreshing Fruit Blend
Makes 1 cup
1 carrot, washed
1 pear, cored and quartered
1 apple, cored and halved
- Using a juice extractor, process carrot, pear and apple. Stir in ¼ cup water, mixing well. Serve immediately.
Stomach-Aid Juice
Makes 1 ½ cups
The licorice flavour of raw fennel may not be your cup of tea, so try it in juice instead. Fennel is a wonderful digestive aid and helps extinguish the fire of heartburn.
4 carrots
1 apple, cored and halved
1 piece fennel bulb (approx. 3 inches)
- Using a juice extractor, process carrots, apple and fennel. Serve immediately.
Berry Cherry Smoothie
Makes 1 ½ cups
2 ice cubes
½ cup blueberries
½ cup sliced strawberries
¼ cup sliced pitted cherries
¼ cup skim milk, or almond milk
- In a blender, blend ice cubes, blueberries, strawberries, cherries and milk until smooth. Serve immediately.
Sunset Smoothie
Makes 1 ½ cups
A little taste of paradise in a glass.
4 strawberries, sliced
1 papaya, peeled and seeded
½ cup skim milk or almond milk
2 tsp liquid honey
- In a blender, blend strawberries, papaya, milk and honey until smooth. Serve immediately.
