I recently came across a website called cemeteryplotlisting.com. It’s a site where people sell their cemetery plots. I know what you are thinking, and I had the same thoughts. Sell my plot? But after giving it some thought, I realized it made sense.
Many people settle down, get married, and buy plots with plans for never moving. But people get older and retire and often move to another state. What do you do with the plot you own in your old state? I called a few cemeteries and asked if they buy them back. Not one cemetery said they would repurchase it. I guess they already made their money. It’s funny to think that a burial plot is the last piece of real estate you will ever own, but what good is it if you do not use it?

When I spoke with the owners of the website, my first question was how did you come up with this idea. The owner, Jeff Solomons, told me he was looking to build something for his special needs son to help generate an income for him and his future. Jeff saw a few other sites like his but felt they were not providing the customer focus or activity to help people sell their plots. He decided to give it a try. His site also has a section where merchants like funeral homes can advertise as well. Solomons is trying to build a one-stop shop for all your(sorry) after-life needs.
