Healthy food provides the basis for a healthy body. What you eat also impacts your skin. A diet that consists of fast food and potato chips quickly reflects itself not only by your weight but by how healthy your skin appears to others.
Some foods are much better for you overall and especially for your skin.
Avocados
Avocados are known for their healthy fats. These not only help your heart but they keep your skin healthy too. Avocados have more potassium than bananas, have lots of fiber and help to lower your cholesterol. Overall they are one of the healthiest foods available.
Eggs
Eggs are a complete protein. They provide amino acids which build new proteins within your skin cells. Some of these such as collagen and elastin strengthen your skin tissue. Two large eggs will provide enough protein to maintain healthy skin. Don’t forget that eggs also contain lutein which nourishes your eyes and zinc which protects your immune system.
Olive Oil
Olive oil is another all over healthy fat. It contains vitamin E which helps with inflammation and dryness. It improves the elasticity of the skin. Olive oil is a source of good cholesterol so it is good for your heart and helps to prevent strokes. The fatty acids in olive oil promote breath health and aid with your memory.
Bell Peppers
One bell pepper contains more than %100 of your daily vitamin C needs. Bell peppers contain carotenoids which can help prevent wrinkles and increase blood circulation to the skin. Red bell peppers in particular are high in vitamins A, B6, E and K. They also contain folate and potassium.
It isn’t difficult to eat for good health and healthy skin. Other foods you can add to your diet that will help to improve your skin include nuts, tomatoes and broccoli. All contain essential nutrients that can help to improve the health of your skin while keeping your whole body healthy.
